To learn Adobe Photoshop can seem daunting at first. This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to make metallic looking text. Making text in Adobe Photoshop have a metallic look is a simple process. It can add just the right touch to graphic design projects. The technique can be used not just for text, but on lines and brushes as well. Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Start up Adobe Photoshop and create a new image. This part is completely up to you. Set the dimensions to whatever size you like and choose a white back ground for simplicity.

  2. Step 2

    Select the Type tool (T) from the tool bar. At the top, choose the font, size and orientation. Change the foreground color to bright yellow. Click anywhere on the image and type in the word(s) you want to be metallic.

    Select the text layer in the layers palette (F7) and open the Blending Options from the Layer Styles button.

    In the Layer Styles dialog box, check the Preview box. Check the box next to Inner Shadow. You can leave these settings as is. Now click on the section titled Bevel & Emboss. Under Style, choose Inner Bevel. Under Gloss Contour, choose Sawtooth 1. Click OK.

Tips & Warnings
  • Save the file as a .psd if you want to be able to return to it later and make changes.
  • You can choose any color and add this effect for a colored metal look.
  • Play with the Bevel & Emboss settings to achieve different looks.
  • Fonts can be copyright protected. Most fonts are free to use for personal projects, but if you are using a font for a commercial project, make sure the font is free for this type of use.
