A burn can leave an unsightly mark on hardwood or laminate floors. Fortunately removing one can be a very simple process that won't take much in the way of time or money.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pocket knife
  • Brass bristle brush
  • Dry paintbrush
  • Tung oil
  • Steel wool pad
  1. Step 1

    Use a pocket knife to scrape away the burn and see how deep the damage goes.

  2. Step 2

    Working with the grain of the wood, use the tip of the knife to scrape away the burned area.

  3. Step 3

    Using a brass bristle brush, lightly brush the area.

  4. Step 4

    Clean up the area with a dry paintbrush. You can use a razorblade to scrape away any areas that were missed and use the paintbrush again.

  5. Step 5

    Apply Tung oil to the spot with a clean cloth to restore the color. Allow to dry and apply more if needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the area still appears rough, use a steel wool pad to sand down the area before applying the tung oil.
