Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Trace the bat pattern onto the polyester and cotton black fabric with a piece of white chalk. You can use the pattern below or create your own bat shape.
-
Step 2
Cut the bat pattern out with a pair of scissors. Be sure to turn the fabric in the direction you wish to cut to make the process easier. Cut 3 long strips out of the excess to use later as tails for the kite.
-
Step 3
Fold the side of each wind over 1/2 inch. Stitch the fold together so that it leaves a tube shape. This is where you will anchor the wire frame.
-
Step 4
Clip the bottom line of the coat hanger with a pair of scissors. Sand the edges for safety. Bend the wire into a half-crescent and insert it into the wing tubes. Stitch the ears to the top of the wire with small loop shapes made with the thread.
-
Step 5
Stitch the 3 tails onto the bottom of the bat pattern. Stitch each tail on separately and try not to overlap.
-
Step 6
Loop a string into the tubes for the wire frame and tie the end of the string to the line of string in the middle of the kite. Stitch the wire frame loops closed, and now you're ready to go fly your kite.
