Address labels can be a large expense for businesses. Bills, statements and flyers are all important for a company to be successful. However, you could be spending thousands of dollars on address labels every month if you hire a business to make them for you. Most companies have Microsoft Word installed on their computers. You can make address labels easily with this program. If you do not have Word, you can locate free address label creators.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Microsoft Word. If you do not use Word for your company, Download.com has some free label makers. These include Paper Label Maker, Label Maker with Data Merge and Business Card and Label Maker Pro. If you use a program other than Microsoft Word, the instructions may differ.

  2. Step 2

Click on the "Mailings" tab. This is on the top of your blank Microsoft Word page. The first box is the "Create" tab. You have two choices, Envelopes and Labels. Click on the "Label" section. A window will appear entitled "Envelopes and Labels."

  3. Step 3

Select the "Options" tab. This is on the bottom of the pop-up window. You will need to set all of the options for your specific needs. This includes printer type, envelope style and vendor type. If you do not find the dimensions that you need for your label, you can further customize them. Click the "New Label" tab at the bottom of the small pop-up window. You can choose the top and bottom margin as well as the left and right. The picture in the middle will show you in real time what the label will look like. Click "Ok" to return to the full envelope and label page.

  4. Step 4

Enter the company's name and address in to the box in the middle of the pop-up page. You can also use this for the client's name and address as well. Right click on the box to change the font, color and text style.

  5. Step 5

Insert the address label paper in your printer. You can find this type of paper in any local department store. Once it is properly in the printer, click "Print."

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of purchasing label paper, you can use regular printer paper and glue. You can also insert the letter into the printer and have one address printed on the envelope at a time.
