How to Do a Seaweed Detox Body Wrap at Home
Many spas offer a seaweed detox body wrap as a stress-reducer and detoxifier. Seaweed wraps may also improve skin's texture and elasticity. You can do a home treatment for less money and get the same results. Follow these instructions for a successful home spa treatment. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1/4 cup dried or powdered seaweed OR
- 3 oz. fresh seaweed
- Water
- Plastic wrap, drop cloth or shower curtain

Mix 1/4 cup of seaweed powder in a bowl with enough water to form a thick paste. Experiment until you have a texture that feels good--thin enough to spread on your body and thick enough to stick to the skin.

Line your bathtub with plastic. You can use plastic wrap from the kitchen or a shower curtain. A painting drop cloth works well and can be purchased for a few dollars at your local hardware store.

Spread the seaweed paste over your entire body.

Lie down on top of the plastic in the bathtub and wrap the plastic sheet around your body.

Relax while the seaweed mud dries for 30 minutes.

Rinse your entire body with warm water and follow with a moisturizer.

Tips & Warnings
You will sweat as part of the detoxification process, so drink lots of water to avoid dehydration. Have a friend help you if you wish.
Body wraps are not for everyone. Being inside the wrap creates a significant amount of heat so consult your doctor if you have any existing medical conditions.
