Finding good home health care isn't always easy, and depending on what you're looking for, may take some time to find. However, for most situations, there are various community options available to seniors or family members.

1. Look first in your local phone book under "Healthcare services" or "Home Health Care." In some towns and cities, such services may also be accessed through the County Health Department.

2. Ask your friends, neighbors or other family members who live in the area if they know of any home health agencies in the community. Ask about their reputation and prices. Home health care isn't cheap, and Medicare doesn't usually cover it. Of course, there are always extenuating circumstances, but check with home health agencies you find.

3. Check with Visiting Nurses Associations in your community. Often these services offer LPNs, RNs and physical or occupational therapists that may come to a home a predetermined number of times per week or month.

4. Call Medicare's Home Health Compare program to find the names of legitimate and certified agencies in your area.
