Things You'll Need:
- pedometer
-
Step 1
Put on a pedometer as soon as you wake up and get dressed.
-
Step 2
March in place as the coffee is brewing, and dance around the kitchen as you fix breakfast.
-
Step 3
If you live close to work or other places you regularly visit, try walking on as many days as possible. If you use public transportation, walk past the nearest bus stop and go to the next one. While you are waiting at the stop, pace back and forth.
-
Step 4
Drivers can park farther away from buildings.
-
Step 5
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
-
Step 6
At work, walk to a coworkers office or cubicle to deliver messages or ask questions instead of calling or e-mailing.
-
Step 7
Pay with your children at home or at the park. Dance around the home or run around the yard, if you have one. Get in touch with your inner child by playing on park swings, kicking around a ball, or playing on playground apparatus.
-
Step 8
Wear the pedometer as you clean the house.
-
Step 9
March in place during commercial breaks or while brushing your teeth.
