Prom is one, if not the most, special high school memory that will stay with you for the rest of your life. So why not make it as perfect and fun as possible? Asking that special somebody is probably the hardest and most nerve wracking part of the whole ordeal. But there is hope. If you are someone who values creativity and likes to go above and beyond the norm, then this is for you. Here's a way to absolutely surprise your crush with your prom proposal.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • water
  • bucket
  • freezer
  • tarp
  • ice pick or hammer
  • paper
  • ziplock bag
  • tape
  • fishing line
  1. Step 1

Type or write out on a piece of paper something along the lines of "Dear (insert girl's name)now that we've broken the ice, will you go to prom with me?" signed: your name. Of course if you'd like to include a poem or draw a picture or a joke thats fine too. Just make sure to have the "break the ice" and "will you go to prom with me?" part in it.

  2. Step 2

Find a way to waterproof the note. Either get it laminated, laminate it yourself with clear tape, or put it in a few layers of ziplock bags. You want to make absolutely sure that this note will not get wet.

  3. Step 3

Fill up a bucket or some sort of container with water. Fold your note in half, so the writing is on the inside and not readable in any way unless unfolded.

  4. Step 4

Drop your note into the water and freeze it. Ideally you'd like the note to be in the middle when the water freezes. You can tie a piece of fishing line to the note and drop it in to make it stay in place while it freezes.

  5. Step 5

The morning of, very sneakily bring in your ice block, tarp, and ice pick or hammer, to the office. Explain to the secretary or whoever delivers items that you need this to go to the girl's first period class as soon as school starts.

  6. Step 6

When the surprise is delivered to her the ice will be laid down upon the tarp, and she must use the tools to break the ice to get to the note inside. Thus literally "breaking the ice" (get it?!).

  7. Step 7
It will make her heart melt <3.

It will make her heart melt <3.

It may be a little embarrassing for her at first, but I guarantee you she'll love the attention, thought, time and creativity that went into planning the whole ordeal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you put the note into the water to be frozen, you may want to test out its water proof-ness by placing it in a sink or bathtub with water.
  • The bigger the ice block, the more dramatic. If you have access to a big freezer then go for it!
  • If you have problems with the note floating to the top, tie a small weight to the end of the fishing line to keep it down.
  • You want to get the ice block delivered to her class as soon as possible to prevent melting and making a big watery mess.
  • You may want to talk to your principle or secretary ahead of time to let them in on the plan and make sure that it's ok to bring in an ice pick or hammer for her to break the ice with.
  • If the school won't allow it, then drop it off at her house and have her do it in her yard or garage.
