Some of the items you will need to make chocolate, and extra money!!!!

If you are a candy maker, you can make some extra money at Valentine's Day by making chocolate lollipops.

Valentine's Candy is the easiest to make. Most items are one color and require little painting.

You can sell your individual suckers for $1, and make arrangements of candy for more money.

This candy could be sold around your office, church or school.

Almost everyone loves getting chocolate for Valentines.

Make some sweet cash in the process!!!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chocolate - various colors and flavors
  • Candy Molds

    BASIC CANDY MAKING

Making chocolate is very simple. I've attached an article on how to make chocolate. But here are the basics: melt your chocolate in the microwave, in glass bowls. I stir my chocolate with plastic spoons, and use the spoons later to stir cocoa or coffee.

You will pour your candy into chocolate molds. Don't overfill your molds, but do make sure you lollipop stick is covered with chocolate.

Check and make sure there are no air bubbles in your candy and place the molds in the freezer for 12 minutes (or so) or 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  2. Step 2

    BAGGING YOUR CANDY

When you remove your candy from the freezer, let it cool back down. Sometimes I will make my candy, place it in a tray, cover it and let it get back to room temperature. IF YOU BAG YOUR CANDY while it is cold, it can cause a film on your plastic bag and it looks icky.

Tie up your candy with curling ribbon. You can use 2 colors of ribbon to make this pretty. Curling ribbon is very inexpensive and will give your candy eye appeal.

When you're done with this step - you will have made your product to sell.

  3. Step 3

    SELLING YOUR CANDY

Unless your kitchen is approved, you will NOT be able to sell your candy to outside retail stores. Make sure you follow the local rules for food production in your area.

BUT you should be able to sell your candy to people around your office, your school, your place of worship, your family, or other areas.

Depending on how many people you know and how much they like chocolate, you can make a deal of money for your efforts.

  4. Step 4

    MEN AND VALENTINE'S DAY

Some men don't plan. Check around the men in your office and see if they would like a romantic hearts and roses arrangement for their girlfriend or wife.

Put some of your chocolate lollipops in a mug, use floral foam to stick it in, and cover with some pretty paper shred.

    How sweet and romantic!!!!

  5. Step 5

    BUYING YOUR SUPPLIES

You should be able to go to a local craft supply store like Michaels, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby and get all of the supplies you need for Valentine's Day. As you get advanced you will want to buy molds online so your product is unique.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are selling candy at your office - keep it professional, have an envelope so your dealings are not disruptive to your co-workers.
  • Try making your chocolate roses two toned. Green leaves add so much to red chocolate roses.
  • Chocolate does not travel well in the heat or sunlight. Don't put your candy in front of the car heater!!!
