How to Make a Bacon Spinach Salad With Hot Dressing
This delicious and easy salad is made with savory bacon dressing and fresh baby spinach. Eating spinach boosts cardiovascular health and may lower the risk of age-related illness. Spinach is dense in nutrients and is abundant in lutein, riboflavin, vitamin B6, magnesium and folate. Use freshly picked spinach for best taste. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 7 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/3 cup medium red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 7 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar or herb-flavored vinegar
- 4 pieces thick cut bacon, sliced into 2-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Apple wedges or croutons, optional

Sear bacon in a frying pan over medium heat until crisp and brown. Remove the bacon from the skillet. Drain the oil, leaving 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan.

Add sugar, vinegar and olive oil to the bacon drippings. Heat over medium-high for 2 minutes. This is our dressing mixture. Return the bacon pieces to the skillet with the dressing mixture and stir to combine.

Toss the spinach and sliced red onion in a large bowl. Set aside.

Pour the bacon dressing mixture over the spinach and onion. Toss the salad to coat and wilt the leaves slightly.

Divide the spinach salad between two plates. Top with crumbled feta cheese. Serve immediately. You can also add sliced apple wedges and croutons to the salad.
