You finally figured out how to use your flat iron and now all of the glam magazines are showing hairstyles created with a curling iron. I am going to let you in on a secret, you can use your flat iron to create curl. Yes you can use the same tool that you use to smooth and straighten your hair to curl it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Straightener from Enjoy
  • Shine Spray from Enjoy
  • flat iron
  • Large tooth comb
  • Sectioning clips
  1. Step 1

First you will need an iron that is hot enough for your hair. The more course your hair the more heat you will need to curl it. An iron that has various heat settings ranging from 375- 400 degrees is a versatile tool and great for curling the hair. Also make sure that the plates are ceramic and curved on the sides to allow for smooth curling.

  2. Step 2

Next get the right product. Two that will protect the hair and leave it feeling light and natural are Straightener and Shine Spray from Enjoy. Apply Straightener to pre-shampooed, towel dried hair. Making sure to work the product from roots to ends with a large tooth comb. Blowdry the hair as smooth as possible, the better (more smooth) the blowdry is the less work you will have to do in finishing with the flat iron creating your curl, leaving the hair healthy and in good condition. Finish with Shine Spray over the surface of the hair for shine and smoothing any fly aways.

  3. Step 3

Then section the hair into workable sections. ½ inch to 1 inch sections are the most controllable, yes this will take you longer but your results will be amazing and salon quality. Use sectioning clips to keep the area you are working clear of any hair that is not being curled. Pre-heat the section for smoother results by running the iron from root to ends then placeing the iron up the strand where you want the curl to begin. For example, if you want curl half way up the section then place the iron at the half way point.

  4. Step 4

Now turn the iron 1-21/2 turns, this will create your curl. As you are working the ends of the hair into the iron, open and close the iron, using light tension and working the iron toward the ends as you pull the iron through the ends. For more hair that is difficult to smooth spray the Shine Spray on each section before using the iron.

Tips & Warnings
  • Finish with hairspray
  • Make sure the hair is completely blown dry before using an iron.
  • Use product to protect the hair from thermal stress during styling
