Instructions

    • 1

Gather all your pewter together, while you're at it, you might as well do all of it and have a lovely set to use.

    • 2

If the pewter is dusty, rinse the pieces off to get all the dust off. It's okay to leave it slightly damp at this point.

    • 3

Get the cloth wet and wring it out so that it's just damp. Sprinkle baking soda on it and use that to gently rub the pewter.

    • 4

If the pewter you are cleaning has patterns carved into it, you can use a soft toothbrush to work the past into the crevices.

    • 5

Once all the tarnish is gone, run the pewter under warm running water and rub gently with your hands until all suds are gone.

    • 6

Buff the pewter with a dry soft cloth until it shines! It's best to use a cloth specially made for metal polishing for the best shine.

Tips & Warnings

  • Toothpaste can also be used instead of the baking soda.

  • For very stubborn tarnish you can leave the pewter soaking in warm water with baking soda before scrubbing.
