How to Clean Tarnished Pewter

Gather all your pewter together, while you're at it, you might as well do all of it and have a lovely set to use.

If the pewter is dusty, rinse the pieces off to get all the dust off. It's okay to leave it slightly damp at this point.

Get the cloth wet and wring it out so that it's just damp. Sprinkle baking soda on it and use that to gently rub the pewter.

If the pewter you are cleaning has patterns carved into it, you can use a soft toothbrush to work the past into the crevices.

Once all the tarnish is gone, run the pewter under warm running water and rub gently with your hands until all suds are gone.

Buff the pewter with a dry soft cloth until it shines! It's best to use a cloth specially made for metal polishing for the best shine.

Tips & Warnings
Toothpaste can also be used instead of the baking soda.
For very stubborn tarnish you can leave the pewter soaking in warm water with baking soda before scrubbing.
