Tennis anyone? If you are new to the game or need a simple refresher course, this is how to keep score in tennis.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

To keep score in the game you first have to understand the number sequence with which the game is scored. It is as follows: 0,15,30, 40. The game is won when the first player or team gets four points in a row or wins by at least two points (more on that in steps below), however, the points are not numbered: 0, 1, 2, 3. Instead they are numbered: 0, 15, 30 and 40.

  2. Step 2

Zero is called Love. The game of tennis begins with each player starting with Love/Love or zero/zero. One player serves the entire game.

  3. Step 3

The server will begin the game by serving and whoever wins the volley receives a point. If the server wins the first point the score will be 15-Love (1-0). If the opponent wins the points the score is Love-15 at the next serve.

  4. Step 4

The game continues until one player wins four points. If both players are tied at 40 (or 3) it is called Deuce. The next player to get a point has the advantage or "ad in" and if the same player wins another point the game is awarded to them. If not the game goes back to deuce until one player wins by two.

  5. Step 5

You are now ready to begin playing tennis and keep score in tennis. Or you can now watch the U.S. Open, Wimbledon or the French Open and understand the scoring system.
