Things You'll Need:
- yard sale date and rain date.
- community map
- newsletter
- news paper
-
Step 1
The first thing you should do is talk to your Community Association about having a yard sale event to generate funds for your community. Most likely this will not be a problem as long as you host it.
-
Step 2
Next plan a date to have the event and try not to plan it on a holiday or on other major events that might be taken place. Once you have decided on a date make sure you plan a rain date just in case the original date does not work out.
-
Step 3
Next place an ad with the location in your local newspaper at least 1 to 2 months in advance for a big turnout.
-
Step 4
Now place the ad with contact information in your community newsletter so that each household that wants to take part in the event can contact you with there name and address.
-
Step 5
A week before the event you will have all the names and addresses of who will participate in the yard sale. Take the map of your community and highlight all the addresses that signed up. Make multiple copies of the map for the day of the event.
-
Step 6
The morning of the event have someone stand at the front entrance of your community and hand out the maps to the shoppers this way they will know where to go.
-
Step 7
Now take a copy of the map and go around and collect $3.00 from each household that is highlighted. This could be a very profitable day for your community.

on 3/1/2009 Good tips! Its about that time again for yard sales, so this is well-timed. Yard sales are cool cuz you can have your friends over, and have them watch your stuff if you need to run inside. We would have them with all our friends' stuff, or the apartment bldg. We did pretty good too!!
