Its very important to keep your feet clean, especially if they are cracked since infections may take place. To clean your feet, use a mild soap with water and towel dry immediately. I never recommend a soap with fragrance since it may further irriate the skin.

Keep your feet moisturized at night. When you moisturize your feet before you go to sleep, use a thick moisturizer and put on a pair of cotton socks. Never wear wool socks when you have dry skin. Several heavy moisturizers you may want to try are shea butter, coco butter, olive oil, calendula oil and jojoba oil. Yes, you really can use olive oil on dry skin! Remember to purchase products that do not contain harmful chemicals such as parabens, dyes and fragrances, they may actually do more harm than good.

Exfoliating your feet with a pumace stone or emory board will be helpful in removing dead skin cells. A salt scrub or sugar scrub will also be helpful but I do not recommend using either of these scrubs when your feet are cracked because it will only hurt your feet and may actually cause further damage.

If you have papercut like cuts in your feet that are not healing, wash your feet thoroughly and then seal the cut closed with a dab of crazy glue. I know this sounds crazy but hospitals are now using this type of treatment instead of stitches! If your cut is actively bleeding, do not try this method, it is only for minor paper cut types of cuts and not puncture wounds or any deep cuts.

Drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages and other dehydrating beverages and foods.
