How to Point Domain Name

You can point your domain name that you register with your domain registrar and point it to another hosting company. You can use your existing domain to create a website or blog.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    To point your domain name to another hosting company, you need to know the hosting company C-Name or IP address. However it depends on who is your domain registrar, every company has slightly different ways to point your domain name.

  2. Step 2

    However the most common way to point your domain by log into your domain registrar account and go to your control panel, then go to your domain manager and check the domain name that you want, then click on DNS (Domain Name System) and click edit.

  3. Step 3

    To point your domain name using C-Name, click C-name radio button and add the new C-Name setting, i.e. if you pointing your existing domain name to blogger, then you need to change C-Name setting to ghs.google.com. If you don't have any domain yet, you can register directly from blogger.com, it will be easier to register directly from your blogger account.

  4. Step 4

    To point your domain name using other hosting company IP address, under your domain control panel, click DNS setting and click other or change IP address, then add the IP address and click OK.

  5. Step 5

    It can takes just few minutes or up to 48 hours to get your domain name pointed to a new hosting company. You can contact your domain registrar or the other hosting company to help you out with this set up.
