How to Buy Cheap Used Books
Books are a very important part of my family's life. We all read voraciously every day, adults and children. Buying books can be expensive but we have found ways to satisfy our reading bug but not break the bank. Here are a few tips to buy cheap used books.

We visit our library almost every week. When we are there we check out when the next library book sale will be. They have them often at our local library and books will be very inexpensive to buy and sometimes free, especially on the last day of a three day sale.

We are part of a book swapping group online called PaperbackSwap that allows you to post books there that you are finished with. If someone requests your book you mail it to them, in return you get a credit towards choosing another book. All you ever pay is about $2 per book for shipping. Many of the books that we have received have been in 'like new' condition.

Garage sales and second hand book stores often have books at low prices. Consider trading books with groups of friends at church or other organized group like a book club or mom's club. If you have a local Freecycle chapter in your town, sign up and keep an eye out for people wanting to get rid of books. Craigslist may have books that are being sold very cheaply or being given away for free.
