Step 1
Check your hard drives. Make sure that you have at least 20-30 percent of your disk free at all times. If you can, perform a defragment if Disk Defragmenter deems it necessary. If you'd like a guide for Disk Defragmenter, please check my other how to's. Slow drives are often a general cause of a chugging computer.

Step 2
Make sure that you have a virus checker and spyware deletion program on your computer at all times. Viruses will really slow down your PC and spyware can have the same effect on either your computer or internet. If your internet suddenly becomes very slow or full of pop ups, chances are you have been infected with either a virus or spyware. Spyware deletion programs are available for free online. Don't pay a fee for one, because these tend to be scams.

Step 3
I suggest deleting any cookies or saved web pages that have been loaded onto your computer. This is easily done by clicking the 'tools' tab in your browser and selecting internet options. Underneath 'browsing history', there should be a delete button. Make sure you check the box that says 'delete all offline content.' This deletes saved pages and cookies from your pc.
