Things You'll Need:
- 3 Yellow or White Cake mixes
- Vanilla, Cream Cheese or other light colored frosting (one for each cake mix)
- 1 Box graham Crackers
- 1 Pkg regular Ice cream cones (square or round bottomed)
- 1 pkg Pointed end Ice cream cones
- 3 round cake pans (graduated sizes)
-
Step 1
Mix the cakes mixes one at a time according to package directions. Begin filling greased and floured pans by size with the largest pan 2/3 full with cake batter.
Fill each of the next 2 pans in the same manner making more batter as needed.
With any remaining batter fill the regular ice cream cones 2/3 full and bake according to cup cake recipe on the back of cake mix box. Watch closely as these will bake much quicker than the cakes. -
Step 2
After your cakes are all done, let cool and loosen cake from sides of pans.
Placing the largest cake on the bottom of the platter give it a coat of frosting and anchor the next sized round cake to the larger ones. Do the same with the smallest cake placing it onto the medium sized cake. You now have the "base" for your castle cake. -
Step 3
While you are busy stacking the cakes, have your princess place a package of graham crackers into a large zip lock bag and crush them (this will become your "sand" for the sand castle part). This will allow the princess to help you while still maintaining some "control" over the castle.
-
Step 4
Add a nice dollop of frosting onto the top of the ice cream cones and invert one of the pointed end cones on top to form turrets on your castle.
-
Step 5
Using extra frosting frost sides of cake and sprinkle graham cracker crumbs around as sand. Use your imagination and create the castle of dreams.
You can also break graham crackers into halves and quarters and create windows or balconies and stairwells as well as "watch towers" on the upper cake level.
