How to Prepare Your Taxes with Turbo Tax Free

You work hard, all year long and are very excited to finally get back the pay you deserve. You've already decided what you are going to spend your tax return on, when you are going to do it, where you are going to spend it at and why you are going to spend it there. But do you know who you are going to have prepare your tax return for your? Sure you can go to HR Block or Dillions, and pay a huge fee, but why not do it yourself? Filing a federal return online yourself is free if you feel out a 1040EZ, 1040A or a 1040. You work hard for the money you are receiving, doesn't make sense to get as much of it back as you can? Read below to find out how!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Social Security Number
  • W2S fron All Jobs
  • Computer
  • Bank Account (Optional)
  1. Step 1

    Log on to turbotax.intuit.com, scroll down to: Free Preperation 1050EZ and click on: Start Now.

  2. Step 2

    When the page finishes loading either create a new account or select the option to create an account later.

  3. Step 3

    Fill out basic personal information about yourself and your family through their secure internet connection.

  4. Step 4

    Answer the Federal Tax Questions, make sure to have your W2's ready so you can refer to questions about info on certain lines on you W2S.

  5. Step 5

    Review your answers to the federal tax questions. Make sure to be as truthful and clear as possible.

  6. Step 6

    Choose to file your state taxes or skip it. If you want to file your state, you will be charge $15, but filing your state taxes are optional on turbo tax.

  7. Step 7

    Print your application and file. Then wait for your money to be deposited either into your bank, if you chose that option, or in the mail.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you get your return direct deposited into your bank account, you are likely to get your return in quicker than throught the mail, not to mention, those of us who chose that option last year, were the part of the first to get our stimulus checks.
  • If you find yourself needing extra help with filing your taxes, they offer help for $10 more.
  • Be careful not to use the back button on your browser.
