1
Buy Broadway tickets online. If you buy your tickets a couple of months in advance, you should be able to get discount Broadway tickets for as much as half off the regular price.
-
2
Discount Broadway tickets are also available on the same day of the performance. You'll have to line up at one of the TKTS booths in Manhattan, but it can be well worth the wait. Discounts of 25 or 50 percent are not at all unusual. These booths are located at Times Square, South Street Seaport, and Downtown Brooklyn

Some shows offer same-day rush tickets, discounted for students. Check the Theatre Development Fund website for up-to-date information.

Thirty minutes before the start time, most shows, even popular Broadway musicals, offer standing room only (SRO) tickets at a steep discount.

Tips & Warnings
TKTS tickets are released several times a day. It is sometimes possible to get seats at 6pm or 7pm, when the lines are shorter.
The TKTS line is often more than an hour long.
The most popular shows do not always offer discount tickets online or through TKTS.
If you want to see a mega-hit Broadway musical, purchase tickets weeks or months in advance.
"Standing Room Only" means what it says. If you get SRO tickets, be prepared to stand for two hours or more, with only a wall to lean on.
