Growing up in Kentucky, we rarely used the term "sweet tea". It was a given that if it was tea, it was going to be sweet! Tea was one of the first things I learned to make in the kitchen and I'm always the one assigned to make it for family dinners and office potlucks. There's nothing like a cold glass of iced tea on a hot day.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • tea bags (individual size)
  • sugar
  • pot for boiling
  • pitcher
  1. Step 1

Fill up a large pot with water one cup at a time. If you're not sure how much tea you want to make, you could fill up the pitcher you plan to serve the tea in with water and then pour the water into the pot one cup at a time. Put the water on to boil and remember how many cups you used.

  2. Step 2

Bring the water to a boil. While water is getting up to speed, unwrap one tea bag for every cup of water you used. Remove boiling water from heat and seep the tea bags for about five minutes.

  3. Step 3

Remove the tea bags being careful not to drip hot tea on yourself.

  4. Step 4

Once tea has cooled but is still warm, add sugar. You want to do this while the tea is warm so that the sugar will dissolve. I would estimate that you might use at least one tablespoon of sugar for every cup but it's kind of trial and error. You will have to do some taste testing. Remember you will be serving the tea with ice which will dilute some of the sugar so don't be afraid to sweeten it generously.

  5. Step 5

Carefully pour into pitcher when cooled. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
