   The pen pal ads should tell you the prisoner's age, name, and number. You will need their names and inmate numbers for the next step.

2. After you've found some candidates for a long distance relation ship, use a state or county inmate locator to look up stats, such as release date, date of birth, and the crimes they have committed and been convicted of.

   Type the name of the state and the words "inmate information" into google to find the state's department of corrections website.

3. Keep in mind that many inmates who request pen pals may have wives, girlfriends, or kids. Therefore, you should also use their name and birth date to look up any marriage or birth records.
