How to Have Qualities of a Good Team Member or Player
Everyone does not have the God given talent of displaying qualities of a good team member.
Some of us prefer to do it OUR way. Our way can mean the highway when it comes to work or something else we MUST do as a player of the team.
Learn to exhibit qualities of a good team member and player, making yourself a better teammate.

Be capable. If you know you can't do the task assigned to you, say so.
If you take the assignment anyway, it doesn't benefit anyone on the team. After all, there may be some other teammate that can do the task.
If you don't interpret spreadsheets, don't pretend like you can. Pretending to be qualified for something you can't do doesn't show the qualities of a good team player at all. Quite the opposite.

Be eager to get the task right. This is probably one of the hardest qualities to follow.
"I may do what's asked of me, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." Many of us have this attitude when asked to be on YET ANOTHER committee or team.
Just remember, being enthusiastic about a task makes it easier and doesn't take as much energy. If you walk around communicating unhappiness or discord about the task, you are wasting energy that could be spent on getting the job done right.
Tips & Warnings
Make up your mind to display the qualities of a good team member. No one wants to be "the one" in the office that constantly causes discord.
Even if you don't want to be a team member and do things better your way, don't send that message to your coworkers or boss, i.e. the team. If asked to be on a committee, group or team, take the role. You just might enjoy it.
