Things You'll Need:
- 1 12.oz can tomato paste
- 1 T. chili powder
- 4 T. honey
- 1 C. vegetable broth or chicken broth
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- 1 t. onion powder
- Salt to taste.
-
Step 1
First collect your ingredients along with a medium sized sauce pan. I like to use a salty vegetable broth concentrate added to a cup of water. I have included only dried spices but feel free to substitute sauted garlic or onion. Just mince the garlic and onion and lightly saute to release the flavors.
-
Step 2
to begin the sauce place the tomato paste in the sauce pan followed by the honey and the broth.
Add all of the spices (and/or the sauteed items) and stir. -
Step 3
* Heat the sauce until it becomes smooth, about 15 minutes. Taste the sauce. You want it to be mostly tomatoe but also salty and sweet with the hint of spices. Adjust you ingredients to your own liking. Now your sauce is ready to be used in your favorite casserole or enchilada dish. Enjoy!
