Urban Decay Primer Potion

Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) is one of the most popular eye shadow primers on the market. Did you know that the "magic genie in a bottle" design prevents you from using close to 2/3 of the product you paid good money for? Read on to learn how to "depot" the primer so that you can use every last bit.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Sharp kitchen knife & cutting board
  • Mini spatula or scoop
  • Airtight container (1/2 oz is a good size)

Because of the curved shape of the UDPP bottle and the thick consistency of the primer, the wand will only pickup primer in the narrow tunnel formed by the applicator inside. Remove the applicator, and cut the bottle horizontally across the widest section.

  2. Step 2
If you do not use an airtight container, the UDPP will dry out in a matter of weeks.

Scoop out all the primer from both halves and place in an airtight container.

Even MORE primer is in that base!

Once you've removed all the primer from both cut ends as far as you can reach, make a final horizontal cut at the base of the bottle after it begins to curve out again. Scoop out the remaining UDPP and add to the container.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut with care. The UDPP bottle cuts fairly easily with a small amount of pressure. Do not use a serrated knife to avoid cutting yourself on sharp plastic edges.
  • Be sure to use an AIRTIGHT container to store the UDPP. If it is not airtight, the primer will evaporate, with the remaining amount becoming crusty and unuseable.
