Step 1
Park the car on a level, concrete surface. If you are on the side of the road, make sure you are not in the grass.
-
Step 2
Locate the jack and the spare tire. This is typically in the trunk or behind the seat. Remove all the tools and put the emergency brake on, if applicable.
-
Step 3
Start by taking the tire iron and loosening the lug nuts a bit before jacking up the car. Place the jack under the vehicle so that it is under a part of the car frame. Jack the vehicle up using the supplied tool.
-
Step 4
Once the tire is off the ground, you can now loosen the rest of the lug nuts. Put the lug nuts in your pocket so you don't lose them. Pull the flat tire off the rotor.
-
Step 5
Wheel the spare next to the bolts. Lift the tire slightly and put the tire on the bolts. Start threading the nuts onto the bolts. Make sure you don't put them on backwards. The end that is rounded goes toward the inside. Get all the bolts snug against the rim.
-
Step 6
Lower the vehicle so the tire is touching the ground. Continue tightening the lug nuts. Make sure they are all tight. Let the jack the rest of the way down and secure it back in its compartment.
