Celebrating the adoption of your child is an important milestone. Many people have adoption day celebrations. I will share a few wonderful ways to celebrate your child's adoption.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Party Supplies
  • Card or stationary
  • Children's books
  1. Step 1

The first step in celebrating your child's adoption day is to determine what type of celebration you would like to have. Do you want a private or more public celebration? Is this something you will continue each year? Answering these questions will help you determine what type of celebration to have.

  2. Step 2
    cake

If you would like to have an actual adoption day party then having cake and balloons and other party supplies would be helpful. You could have the date of the adoption on the cake as decoration or you could have the cake decorator write something like forever family, family day, or adoption rocks!

  3. Step 3

Invite people to your adoption celebration that both you and your child are comfortable with. Your friends and family would be appropriate. Some families invite the social worker that arranged the adoption or the biological family.

  4. Step 4
    books

If you prefer a smaller celebration you could give your child an adoption children's book as an adoption day gift. There are many wonderful books out there about adoption that your child would enjoy and learn from.

  5. Step 5
    Envelope

If you have an open adoption it could be nice if your child drew a picture or wrote his/her biological family a note to celebrate adoption day. You could take this opportunity to talk with your child about the wonderful gift you received from the biological family when you got him/her.

  6. Step 6

As your Adoption Day celebration comes to an end make sure you share your child's adoption story with him/her. Children always love to hear the story over and over. I can't think of any better way to celebrate!
