Things You'll Need:
- An open mind
- A giving spirit
-
Step 1
After taking a deep breath and getting through the excitement of being asked to be such an important part of this experience; write the bride a thank you note. Letting her know that you really appreciate this honor will put you both in a good place.
-
Step 2
Keep a notebook of everything that needs to be done. The more organized you are the less stressed the bride will be. A binder is your best bet, you can keep invitation samples, fabric swatches, caterer brochures in the pockets. Make notes so that when the bride needs to make decisions you can help her by referring to them.
-
Step 3
Go to every dress appointment. There is nothing quite as stressful to a bride then to arrive at her reception only to find out there isn't anyone there who knows how to bustle her dress. Fittings only take a few minutes and it really shows the bride that you are supportive of her.
-
Step 4
Be patient! The bride will be moody. She will laugh, she will cry, she will yell. And because you are her right hand woman so to speak you are going to get the brunt of these emotions. Don't take it personally and always offer her your shoulder to cry on.
-
Step 5
Delegate. You will be asked to throw the bridal shower and perhaps bachelorette party. Enlist the other bridesmaids to help you in these events. This will help you to accomplish everything you need to and will give you time to actually enjoy yourself.
-
Step 6
Enjoy. This is a life altering event for a very special person in your life. Try not to get overwhelmed with all of the responsibilities so that later you can look back on the experience fondly.
