Things You'll Need:
- Shampoo
- Good quality conditioner
- Wide tooth comb
-
Step 1
Wash hair with shampoo, to remove all hair products such as gel and hair sprays that can worsen tangles. Rinse well.
-
Step 2
Add a generous, triple portion of good quality conditioner and work through your hair from root to tips. Hair should be completely saturated in conditioner. Do not rinse.
-
Step 3
Using a wide tooth comb, gently comb the conditioner through the hair, breaking up the tangles. For stubborn tangles, add extra conditioner right to the tangle and divide the tangle into smaller and smaller sections, using the wide tooth comb, until it is broken up and gone. Do this until all the tangles are gone. Give your hair one final sweep with the comb.
-
Step 4
Before rinsing out the conditioner, put a small dab of shampoo in your palm and work it in just at the roots of your hair, then rinse your whole head thoroughly. The bit of shampooing at the roots should minimimze flat hair from all the conditioner. Dry and style as usual.

on 5/24/2009 Great article, Tangled hair is such a big problem in the hair care industry. It is sometimes not taken as seriously as it should. No matter what race you are or what texture your hair is, everybodys hair can get tangled. For really exteme cases of severely tangled/matted hair,"birds nest",knots, balls of matted hair or clumps of tangled hair-There is a product on the market called the Take Down Remover Cream. It removes dreadlocks, but it works well with very matted/tangled hair. Dreadlocks are just long strands of uncombed matted hair. We are so fustrated with the downplayed issue of Tangled Hair with kids, men, parents, longterm care patients, and women. We provide the service of detangling and advice-but it is not enough. Infact, Pet owners have the same problems with matted pet fur Tangled hair should be taken seriously. Most hairdressers just want to cut the hair when it is server...
