By washing your clothes in the bathtub after a bath, you not only save water but also energy costs. The tub doesn't need to be completely full for this task and each item of clothing can be washed separately.
Delicate garments such as blouses and women's underwear also benefit from being washed and dried by hand so the clothes washer does not stretch them out of shape. Even jeans can be washed by hand, then hung up to dry.

Things You'll Need:

  • your dirty clothes
  1. Step 1

After you bathe, dry yourself off and dress. Leave the water in the tub, and before drying off, throw the clothes in and let them soak a little bit.

  2. Step 2

Use a laundry bar of soap or a little bit of liquid clothes detergent for washing your clothes with. Concentrate on removing any stains or dirt from the clothes. After each piece of clothing is washed, ring out the water well, then set aside in a laundry hamper or basket.

  3. Step 3

Drain the tub of the dirty water. Start filling with water for the rinsing process. Rinse out each item of clothing then wring dry. Shake out each item of clothing so it hangs straight when you go to hang them up for drying. Hang up the newly washed clothing on hangers from the shower rack, or outside on a clothesline, if one is available.

  4. Step 4

Once the clothes are dry, they can be hung in your closet or folded neatly in a dresser drawer.
