Things You'll Need:
- Web Designer, either in-house or service
- SEO
-
Step 1
Focus on developing your website from the customer's point of view. What problems or needs does the customer have that your product or service solves for them? Why should they buy anything from you, if it doesn't make their life better or their job easier or to solve a problem that they now have, or might have in the near future?
-
Step 2
Make it easy to navigate through the pages of your website. Customers need to easily see what your product or service will give them that can solve the problem they have. If your website is too complicated they won't stay on your website long enough to learn HOW your product or service works if it is not 'easy to use'.
-
Step 3
Make it safe to use. Your shopping cart or ordering system needs to use credit card data encryption. Make sure it is 'labeled' clearly that it is 'security protected'. Assure the customer that their personal data is safe and confidential. Give the customer the choice of keeping their information on file for future orders.
-
Step 4
Make it Convenient. If they have decided to order and it takes to long to do, they will leave the website and go to a competitor. You will lose the order today and any in the future.
-
Step 5
Ask only for the information you need. If the customer asks himself, "why do they need that question answered?" you could lose the sale and a future visitor to your website.
-
Step 6
Always have a confirm order process. Send out an email to them which tells them, what they ordered, the cost of the order, address order shipped to, the date shipment will be sent (back order information if necessary) and tracking information.
