If you have decided to homeschool your child, follow these steps to begin your homeschooling journey.

  • Knowledge on the laws in your state

  1. Step 1

    You will need to research the laws in your state. Some states require you to alert the school district of your plan to homeschool. Research your local laws and follow the steps accordingly.

  2. Step 2

    Inform your childs school that you will be removing them from the school. Follow your states procedures to request your childs school transcripts be sent to you. If you make this request in writing, you should sent the letter certified. This way you retain proof of mailing the request.

  3. Step 3

    Make an educational plan for your child. You should cover all of the state mandatory subjects for their grade. Write out the educational plan and put it in a file. Buy the curriculum for your child that goes with your educational plan. You will want to have books, games and other forms of educational supplies.
