Insure Your Child’s Shoes Fit

With all of the cute shoes available for children it can be hard to choose which pair to buy. It can be tempting to grab the pair that will match the outfit you absolutely adore. But how much thought have you actually given to how the shoe fits?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Measure your child’s feet.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the shoes have ½ inch extra room. It’s not a good idea to go any bigger. Shoes that are too big can do about as much damage as shoes that are too small.

  3. Step 3

Have them walk around, ask them how they feel.

  4. Step 4

While they are walking check to make sure their heels aren’t slipping out of the back of the shoes.

  5. Step 5

After you have selected the shoes you believe will best fit your little one get a second opinion. Most shoe stores have trained employee’s to help you find the perfect fit, take advantage of it.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should always inspect your child's feet for signs of irritation.
  • If your child has a habit of constantly taking one or both shoes off it may be a sign that something is wrong.
