How to Treat Arthritis at Home

Arthritis means 'inflammation of the joints'. There are two types: osteoarthritis is a joint disease while rheumatoid arthritis can affects joints and muscles. This usually occurs inelderly. This is a very painful condition and this article will show you how to treat this at home.

  1. Step 1

    Juice of a raw potato is one of the most successful treatments for arthritis. Cut a potato into thin slices and put it in a cold water glass for overnight. Drink this in the morning on an empty stomach.

  2. Step 2

    1 cup of juice from any green leafy vegetable with carrot, celery, and red beet juices is also good for arthritis. The alkaline action of raw juices dissolves the accumulation of deposits around the joints and in other tissues.

    1 cup of pineapple juice is also good as the enzyme bromelain in fresh pineapple juice reduces swelling and inflammation in osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

    Lime juice is also beneficial because citric acid is a solvent of uric acid which is the primary cause of some arthritis. The juice of one lime with water, can be taken once a day, preferably first thing in the morning.

  3. Step 3

    Garlic is also effective for arthritis. It has anti-inflammatory property.

    Bananas, being a rich source of vitamin B6, is also useful in the treatment of arthritis.

  4. Step 4

    Calcium can help arthritis. Joint pains are relieved after taking calcium. 2 tsp of calcium lactate may be taken before meals.

  5. Step 5

    Drinking water kept in a copper container is said to strengthen the muscular system. A copper ring or bracelet is also worn for the same reason.

    You can also drink 1 tsp of black sesame seeds, soaked in a 1/4 cup of water overnight, has been found to be effective in preventing frequent joint pains.

    Alfalfa tea made from its seeds has shown beneficial results. 1 teaspoon of alfalfa seeds may be added to 1 cup of water. Three to four cups of this tea should be taken daily by arthritics for at least 2 weeks.

    Another home remedy found useful in relieving pains in the joints is the use of green gram soup. This soup should be prepared by mixing a tablespoon of green gram in a cup of water, with two crushed garlic cloves. It should be taken twice a day.

  6. Step 6

    Non-food treatments include keeping the body warm, seabathing, rest, and ventilation.
