Whether you are choosing a tuxedo for a wedding or other black tie event, it's always good to have all the information you can prior to deciding what tuxedo to pick. As an event planning company, consultants at Crystal & Co. Events help plan a variety of black-tie events yearly. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide on your budget and if you will be renting or buying a tuxedo. According to consultants at Crystal & Co. Events, buying is always a better choice than renting. Many times, renting can cost 25 to 50 percent more than buying a tuxedo, and even if buying is slightly more expensive, "you can always use the tux or suit for a different social or black tie event," said Butler.

Make sure you are comfortable in any tuxedo you choose and that the tuxedo matches the theme of the black tie event. Keep event colors in mind when choosing a tuxedo to ensure you do not clash with others at the event.
You can incorporate personal style in the design you pick, but Butler recommends making sure comfort takes priority. There are three different types of tuxedos -- traditional, trendy and casual. "Be sure to ask the attendant at the store to show you at least three tuxedos or suits in your preferred style," says Butler. When being measured by the attendant, ask him to take multiple measurements to ensure a comfortable fit.

Pick the right shoes for your tuxedo by matching both the suit and the theme of the event. At formal events, sneakers or flip flops are not appropriate, say the consultants at Crystal & Co. Events. Break in your shoes before the event to ensure that you will be comfortable in them. Wear them around the house and scuff the bottoms to keep from skidding.

Make sure the front of your shirt -- the bib, pleated section -- fits properly under your jacket and into your waistband. Whether you are going with a cummerbund and bow tie or vest and tie, the shirt should lay flat against your body, not puffed out.
