How to Use Twitter to Advertise Your Home Business for Free
If you work at home, the Internet is a powerful tool to help you advertise your business. Twitter is a free online social site that can help you dominate over your competition. Twitter lets you post 140 character messages, called tweets, which anyone may read. It combines features similar to micro-blogging and instant messaging. A large user base ensures that your business has ample opportunities to gain a following if you approach Twitter marketing correctly.

Sign up for a Twitter account at Twitter.com. If you have more than one work at home business, consider signing up for more than one account, to advertise each business.
-
2
Start surfing through Twitter, finding people who you think might be interested in what you do. For example, for Avon sales, find women between the ages 18 and over.

Click "Follow" under the profile photo of people you want to network with. When you receive a message saying that someone is following you, log on to your account to follow them, too.

4
Update your status with "Tweets" (Twitter updates) often. Several times a day is normal. Among your normal updates, include links to your products pages or links to other places you want your followers to go.

Tips & Warnings
Keep in mind that Twitter is just like any other place on the internet. People don't want to be spammed. If you use your Twitter account to do nothing but promote your personal home business, they will stop following you.
Besides sending your followers to links that will earn you money, send them links to articles or sites online that you find interesting, relevant, or funny. This will get your followers interested in you as a person, and will make it more likely for them to follow links to your personal products when you post them.
