Do Easy Keyboard Cleaning
Do Easy Keyboard Cleaning

Cleaning your keyboard is fast an easy with the help of a few supplies. Give your keyboard a good scrub and then dust it once a week to maintain clean, well working keys.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • pencil erase
  • Q-tips
  • makeup brush
  • wet washcloth
  • rubbing alcohol
  • vinyl placemat
  1. Step 1

Use a pencil erase to wipe smudges off the keys. If you don't have a pencil eraser handy, try a small lump of modeling clay or silly putty. Both of these can function as an erase.

  2. Step 2

Rub a cotton Q-tip in all the tiny crevices between the keys to remove dirt, dust, or hair. You can use a damp (not dripping wet) Q-tip as needed to get off built-up grease or sticky spills.

  3. Step 3

Try a makeup brush for a quick dusting. A small blush brust will work wonders for a dirty keyboard.

  4. Step 4

For a thorough scrubbing, make sure your computer is turned off first. Wet a washcloth with rubbing alcohol and then gently wipe down the keys. Never pour the alcohol onto the keyboard!

  5. Step 5

Protect your keyboard from further dirt and grime by covering the keys with a vinyl placemat betweeen uses. This will make keyboard cleaning easier next time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never clean your keyboard when your computer is on. Always turn off all computer components before cleaning.
