Instructions

Your first move will be to remove the first layer of build-up by wetting a rag and adding a few drops of grease cutting detergent, such as Dawn, directly to your rag. Scrub in a circular motion until you see the grease coming off on your rag. Rinse the rag often for this first round of scrubbing.

Next you will need to rinse your rag completely clean and wring it out. Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the rag and go over the cabinets again. You will need to rinse often as you did in the previous step. After you have wiped all the cabinets with baking soda, go over them again with plain water and remove all the baking soda residue.

For the next step, using a new rag, wipe the cabinets down with Murphy's Oil Soap. This will remove the remaining amount of grease from the cabinets.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are repainting the cabinets, skip step three and go directly to priming after you have wiped away all of the baking soda.

  • If you are simply cleaning and not repainting you can try step three first. If your cabinets are not stained with a thick layer of grease it may be removeable with just the Murphy's Oil Soap.

  • Test a small area before using any of these products in case the finish will not take it. Some cabinet finishes can be harmed by certain products. Test it first.
