To replace a door lock is quite simple. All you need is a few minutes and a screwdriver.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

First take off the security ring by using a screwdrivew and prying into the slot. This covers the screws, remove the screws of the old lock.

  2. Step 2

The front and back knobs should come off by simply twisting the knobs and pulling firmly. Then remove the screws for the center mechanism and and the metal plate then pull it out of the door. Now the lock is out and the new is ready for assembly.

  3. Step 3

Open the package for the new lock. Take note of the lock size as to that of the old lock. If they are the same continue with the next step.

  4. Step 4

Place the center mechanism in through the hole in the side of the door with the metal piece on over the latch and using the screws provided install screws. Then you are ready for the door knobs and screws. Test the door lock with the keys. Also install the deadbolt lock if you like. MOst locks are tarnish resistant and have a lifetime warranty.
