Peanut allergies are on the rise. They have been banned in schools and homes across the country. It is hard on the children with this potentially deadly allergy since peanuts seem to be in everything. It is even harder on the parents to find a fun snack for their peanut allergy child. Here is an easy peanut free peanut butter cookie recipe that will fool everyone.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup Soy butter
  • 1 egg or banana
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

To start your peanut free peanut butter cookie recipe, mix one cup of sugar with one egg. You can replace the egg with a banana if you are making it for someone who also has an egg allergy.

  3. Step 3

Add one cup of Soy butter to the mixture. If you can not find soy butter, Sunbutter (which is made with sunflower seeds) can be used instead. You can also add the chocolate chips if desired. Be sure to check for the peanut warning on the back of the chocolate chip package. Many may contain peanuts or they are manufactured in a facility that process peanuts which can cause an allergic reaction to the person who eats it.

  4. Step 4

Drop heaping spoons fulls of your peanut free peanut butter cookie recipe batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Use a fork to make the crisscross pattern on the cookie and bake for 10-12 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Enjoy your peanut free peanut butter cookies with a nice tall glass of milk.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cooking times may vary, so be sure to watch the first batch carefully and adjust baking time as needed.
  • Soy butter and Sunbutter can usually be found in the health food section of many grocery stores. If you cannot find it in your local store, you may be able to find it online.
  • Be sure to check all allergy labels on the products that you use. It will not be a peanut free cookie if the produces you use might contain peanuts.

on 1/23/2009 My sister has egg and peanut allergies. I'll have to try this recipe out with the banana instead of egg. Sounds delicious! Thanks for the great recipe!
