Things You'll Need:
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup cocoa (unsweetened)powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of Dr. Pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- FROSTING:
- 1 1/2 cup vanilla
- 1/4 cup Dr. Pepper
- 3/4 cup Crisco (butter flavor) shortening
- 4 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter-room temp

Step 1
Heat your oven to 350.F, Grease and dust two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a bowl sift together the sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, flour, and baking soda. Take your Dr. Pepper and pour it into a saucepan with the chocolate chips. Heat until the chips are melted. -
Step 2
Take your oil, vanilla, buttermilk and eggs and mix them together in a bowl with a mixer on medium speed. While the mixer is on, add the Chocolate chips and Dr. Pepper mixture and mix together. Now, take all of your dry ingredients and add that to the bowl. Mix with your mixer until all ingredients are mixed. Take the batter and divide it between the cake pans.

Now you can bake the cakes at around 30-35 minutes. You can try the toothpick method to check if they are done. Take the cakes out of the oven and let them cool for about 10-15 minutes. If you have a spring form pan just pop the cakes out and place them on a cooling rack. If not, gently flip the pans over and let the cakes come out and let them cool.

Now your ready to frost your cakes. Take a mixing bowl and add the Crisco and butter. Beat until fluffy. Add powder sugar and cocoa-mix until it combines together. Take the Dr. Pepper and Vanilla and add it to your frosting, mixing until the frosting becomes thin and fluffy.

Step 5
Take a cake layer and place it on a cake plate or whatever you like to put cakes on. Dollop frosting on the cake. Take the other cake and place it on top. Spread the rest of the frosting on top and sides of cake. That's it. Enjoy!
