Make Authentic New Orleans Style Red Beans and Rice Quickly and Easily

Would you like to spend all day making authentic red beans and rice from your grandmother's recipe? I didn't think so. This recipe will teach you how to make New Orleans style red beans and rice quickly and easily.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cans of 27 oz Blue Runner creole cream style red beans
  • Small onion
  • 3 slices of bacon or comparable sized pickled meat
  • Cooked rice
  • Seasoning of choice
  1. Step 1

Start by cooking your bacon or pickled meat. The meat will need to be cut into small pieces.

If you are fortunate enough to live in Louisiana, you should be able to find pickled meat. If you do not live in Louisiana, expect your butcher to look at you strange if you ask for it.

  2. Step 2

While the meat is cooking, dice an onion. Once the bacon or pickled meat is about halfway done cooking, add the diced onion. Cook until the onion is clear.

  3. Step 3

Add your 2 cans of Blue Runner beans. Does it have to be Blue Runner? YES! That is where the "authentic" comes in. If you don't care if it is "authentic", then use any cream style red beans.

  4. Step 4

Once the beans are heated and the meat is finished cooking, test to see if it needs any seasoning. If it does, add creole seasoning or just salt and pepper.

  5. Step 5

Serve over cooked rice to finish your authentic New Orleans style red beans and rice masterpiece. Next time you make this you won't even have to look at the recipe.
