Things You'll Need:
- your resume
-
Step 1
Think about what you want to achieve in your career. Advancement? Management opportunities? Travel?
-
Step 2
On your resume, after your header and contact info, enter your career objective.
-
Step 3
Keep it to one sentence, focusing on the positive goals you want to achieve. Try to avoid anything negative in your statement.
For example, if you are job-hunting currently to leave a position where you know you'd do a better job than your current boss, don't say "Looking for a career in management so I don't have to listen to anyone boss me around." It would be better to say "Looking for leadership opportunities and increased responsibility." -
Step 4
Read through your resume and make sure it is formatted well. Does your career objective line up with your experience? It should be a realistic step from where you are now on the career ladder.
