Losing 5 pounds in week takes some serious willpower, but if you need to do it, it can be done. Try my simple plan.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drink 8 oz. of water every hour. Do not drink any sodas, alcohol or fruit juice this week. 1% or fat free milk is OK but only at meals.

  2. Step 2

Get up 30 minutes early every day and do the following: Speed walk or jog for 15 minutes. Make sure and break a sweat. Do 4 sets of 25 crunches and 4 sets of 10 push-ups. Then do as many deep knee bends as possible until you cannot do anymore.

  3. Step 3

Eat 5 meals a day with a maximum of 250 calories at each meal. Try hard not to go over. Make each calorie count. Get as much nutrition from each calorie as possible.

  4. Step 4

Chew gum for at least 1 hour per day. Try to get into a sauna for 30 minutes every day. Do not eat anything within 3 hours of bedtime. Take a multivitamin and 800 mcg of chromium picolinate everyday.

Tips & Warnings
  • 5 pounds is difficult to do in a week but it can be done.
  • It will be mostly water this first week, but you will lose some fat.
  • You will lose inches
  • This plan is for someone who can handle a 15 minute jog or speedwalk. If it has been a while for you, get a physical.

on 6/15/2009 I think the chewing gum is to burn some extra calories while just sitting there. "researchers at the Mayo Clinic have found that chewing gum will burn an additional 11 calories per hour," says Dan Benardot, Ph.D., R.D., author of Nutrition for Serious Athletes.
