Correct The Shanks in The Golf Swing

The sudden appearance of the shanks while playing a round of golf is one of the most dreaded things that a golfer can experience. Although "the shanks" can be caused by many flaws in the golf swing, here is how to solve one major cause of the problem.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

One major cause of the shanks in the golf swing is letting your weight move out toward your toes in the swing. What you need to do is work on balance.

  2. Step 2

Take a seven iron to the driving range. Place both feet completely together and hit a lot of golf balls. You will be forced to make most of the correct moves required to maintain balance and the correct swing path.

  3. Step 3

It will take quite a few swings to correct the problem. You need to really feel the balance, rhythm and weight shift required in doing this technique. If you don't keep your weight over the shoe laces you will not be successful in hitting good clean, crisp shots.
