Things You'll Need:
- credit card
- train set
-
Step 1
When looking at train tables, decide how important it is that your table come with a drawer. A built in draw is a very nice feature for storing all toy train parts. Some tables have trundle storage either included or at an additional cost. Some tables have no storage at all. The activity table will be quite financial investment so be sure to know what you want.
-
Step 2
It is important that you decide what materials you would like your train table to be made of. Some train tables are made of plastic, some of solid wood and some of composite wood. Generally speaking, the solid wood tables will be more expensive. That being said, a wood table is better for the environment and is more likely to be an heirloom piece if you plan on storing it for the future.
-
Step 3
Because this table will be used by children, be sure that any table you buy meets with the US standards for safety. Some paints are toxic and will contain lead. In this case, its always better to invest your money in the better product.
-
Step 4
To determine the size of the table you will need, mark the area with masking tape and leave it for a day. After walking around it for a day, you may decide that the table you are looking at is too small or too big for the space in your house.
-
Step 5
When purchasing a table, compare prices online before entering a store. You may find the best price on the table you are looking at on eBay with free shipping included. If you are buying in a store, be sure to check your computer for online coupon websites such as coupon cabin before leaving the house!

on 1/18/2009 Great ideas for shopping for train table, these are also great ideas when shopping for most things. Decide if you can live with it, and quality usually is worth the extra money (if you have it).
