Tour the White House in your Pajamas

Ever since I watched Michelle Obama visit Laura Bush at the White House, and listened to discussions of Sasha and Malia making their home in this historical house, I’ve been fascinated with the interior of the White House and those people who have called it home. For the first time in my life I wish I was personal friends of the first family – not for the prestige or a chance to attend fancy parties, but for the opportunity to have an intimate tour of the White House, and all its rooms. I also think it would be fun to watch Sasha and Malia explore this historically rich residence and fix up their rooms. I don’t think I will be getting any invites in the near future, so I checked around online and found a way to have my own private tour. Maybe it isn’t as good as seeing it in person, but it will have to do.

Step 1

Log into the White House website. A link is included in resources.
Step 2

Click on the “History and Tours” link in the upper right hand corner of the webpage. There is also a link at the bottom of the page.
Step 3

Look at the links to the left of the page, under “Tours”. Click on “On-line” to start an online tour, or “Panoramic” to get a panoramic view of main rooms, or “Grounds and Gardens” for an outside view of the White House.
Step 4

Explore the White House website for interesting videos, photographs and information. Maybe it isn’t as good as a personal invite, but it is pretty cool!
