Making essential oil soy candles is a great way to not only make your own home smell great, but to make nice gifts for friends and family.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soy Wax
  • The Oil of Your Choice
  • A Microwave
  • A Candle Mold
  • Wax Dye (optional)
  1. Step 1

Once you have procured all of the items on the above list read the instructions for melting your soy wax in the microwave. These will vary slightly depending on the brand.

  2. Step 2

Set up your mold, and have it nearby to the microwave you will be using to melt the wax. This includes not only setting up the physical mold, but preparing the wick as well.

  3. Step 3

Melt the wax as per the instructions on the package.

  4. Step 4

Once the wax is melted you will add the oils and coloring. This is largely a matter of taste and the size of the candle, so add as much or as little as you feel you need. You may need to stir if the color is not uniform and you wish it to be so.

  5. Step 5

Pour your wax into the mold and allow to set completely. This may take several hours depending on the size and shape of your candle. Once it is set you can remove the mold.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want a mix of colors or fragrances you can simply add more than one to the candle, just be sure that they will mix well. Strawberry Vanilla might be a great combination, Chocolate Honeysuckle however will be confusing to the nose.
  • Hot wax is hot, you can get burned very easily if you are not careful.
  • Don't un-mold your candle too soon or you may end up with a soy wax blob.
