Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Word/Powerpoint or other Graphics Program
- Internet
-
Step 1
Search your computer's hard drive for stock photos and clipart! Programs like Word and Powerpoint come with a graphics package. It's a great place to get started if you're looking for generic pictures and graphics. If you're using Word or Powerpoint simply go to the "Insert" menu and scroll down to "picture" then choose "clipart." A large database of clipart will come up. You can search the database by category or try typing in what you're looking for in the search function.
-
Step 2
Why pay for stock photos when you can use pictures you've taken yourself? Digital cameras make taking photos easier and faster than ever. If you're writing an article about a recipe take pictures as you're cooking or if you need a picture of the Eiffel Tower and you've been to Paris search your photo files to see if there's something that will work. Using your own pictures guarantees you won't run into copyright trouble.
-
Step 3
Freephotos.com is a great place to find what else, free stock photos! The site has close to 5,000 free photos that it has gathered from amateur photographers and encourages you to take a picture and leave a picture! You have to go through a free registration process to use any pictures from the site. You're also required to put a link back to the website if you use any of their stock photos. See the link to the site in the Resource Section below.
-
Step 4
Freedigitalphotos.net is another site that offers royalty free photos for online use. This site is a little easier to use because there's no registration, just simply search for what you're looking for or browse through the categories and download the pictures. The pictures seem to be a little higher quality, but there aren't nearly as many as the other site. See the link to the site in the Resource Section below.
-
Step 5
www.free-clipart.netThere are tons of sites offering free clipart but the one I found the easiest to use, and by far the largest selection is free-clipart.net. When you get on the homepage look to the left side and click on "clipart" under where it says "Our Categories." When the page loads scroll down to the subcategories and have fun searching through the 25,000 cliparts to find what you're looking for. A word to the wise: this site is full of ads and other "junk" but if you can get past that you'll find a huge assortment of free clipart. See the link to the site in the Resource Section below.
